For Drape and Construct 1 final, the task was creating a dress with manipulated darts. I was inspired by the straps on a straight jacket, which can be seen incorporated on the final garment. The dart was converted to a seam going down the body which highlighted where the straps connected. The off-center of the straps creates the idea of a disproportion shape. My initial thought was to have faux leather straps, but since it was a first-year class only approved fabrics were allowed. Therefore my decision to dye some of the fabric a custom shade of brown in order to break up proportions helped give the dress an interesting look.
