St. Moritz, Switzerland is beautiful in the summer and my imagination went overboard thinking of what the scenery would look like during the winter months. Instant visions from a scene out of a fairytale: the town during a snowstorm with fairy lights as far as the eyes could see. Inspiring the “Love Letters to Myself” mood board/collection. This fantasy collection begins with a colorful city girl bringing her style to an otherwise classic (more traditional?/ sophisticated town. While there, (and feeling like a bit of an outsider, but yet loving every second of this new unknown to her prior self-emotion) she writes these love letters to herself. The title of the collection—“Love, Me”—is how she signs the letters which symbolize that she has learned to love herself despite feeling like you have stepped into another universe. The goal of picking out the textiles was to capture the texture of snow. I was inspired by artist Alexis Arnold, who crystallizes objects. My kitchen turned into a science project while I experimented with different solutions and fabrics. Eventually finding the snowy look I envisioned with a stretch knit fabric soaked for two days in a solution of borax, water, and salt.

The sportswear coordinates feature a heart-shaped top, an arrow wrapped around the neck that goes through using crystalized fabric, which has connecting cold shoulder bell-shaped sleeves used on both garments. On the first garment, I imagined a sunny winter day exploring, and the second garment was designed for a night in the town. The second garment features fabric with not all the sections crystalized, honoring the balance of the Swiss countryside as well as the icy glaciers that the region is known for.
