Geometric Shapes

Exploring the geometric shapes of the body was inspired by the painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon by Pablo Picasso, which featured five geometrical women; this led to my exploration of Myology. This is the study of the structure, arrangement, and action of muscles using information from the book Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist by Stephan Roger Peck. I experimented with skeletons and sections of muscles that move together. In hopes of illustrating the body proportions, all while pointing out the difference in genders to create a gender-fluid collection.

These are the final sketches of the geometric shapes. I chose flexible glass, stripes, polka dots, and pleats to create this fun youthful gender-fluid exploration of shapes, sizes, movement, and opacity of the human body.
